After almost two months Greeks are slowly coming into the new world order. Amazing how easily the world gave up the basic right of freedom based on faulty data, incorrect modelling and governmental threats. The world listened to self-proclaimed experts, corrupted scientists and incapable leadership. That was here in Greece, I cannot say factually for the rest of the world. Now they know how to heard sheep. Stupid sheep.
the good news…(very long pause)
Pragmatism. I like the warm fuzzies but these two months have been difficult both personally and professionally. No sob story. It is my blog, read or do not. I do not GAF. Pragmatism.
All around is upside down. I need a new location for the dive store. The lease conditions never fully materialised so had to leave the building. The economy is in shambles and prices do not go down related to leases. All costs are the same but the money around is very little. Trying to make a reasonably justifiable plan is not possible because the data needed for calculations is not known and control is only by the fears and anticipations of the flock.
For the time being I provide my instructional services on a private, by appointment only prepaid basis. Not really too different to what I did the previous years just more specific. However now I work alone. Keeping staff in this time is not fair to either them or me. I cannot guarantee an income so will only bring on a certified assistant ad-hoc.
Now for the second strike…
Some may remember my assistant from last year. She was good all around. A really good diver and we became good friends, a term I use very rarely . One of the few I call a dive buddy. Trust was earned and diving together gave me the rare escape from supervision and let me enjoy the freedom. She was on the way to Divemaster and would have been an outstanding instructor. But nature wants her back. Some years ago she had a bad sickness that she overcame. But all too quickly it returned with swift vengeance. As I write this it will carry her away at any time. I do miss her and hope her new journey takes her to wonderful places and lets her be free.
And now the third blow…
For me friend is a very unused word. Especially to humans. On 06 May my best friend, psychologist, pal… left to run in other fields. Patou was my 55 Kg Pyrenean Mountain dog of 11 years. Our relationship started when he was eight weeks old and he passed with me close. He had a good life, was happy and had a character better than any man. He had a good death and was honourable to his last breath. I have other dogs who need my care and give me much pleasure, but Patou was Patou. Eleven years will take me a long time to overcome.
So dry the eyes princess, grab your gear and head out. Come dive with me. Leave the surface, descend and breathe. Clear your thoughts, find the Tao and be free!!
